Year 1 - Letter 1 - MTC

Estoy muy feliz en el CCM

Hola!
Oh my gosh! This has been the craziest week of my life! The subject of this letter means I am so happy in the MTC and it is true I really am. This is an absolutely amazing opportunity and it is just so amazing to have the chance to learn and to grow so much each day. Every one is not lying when they say that Speak Your Language starts on the first day. It is so overwhelming. I understand so much but I really have a hard time coming up with what to say. Learning spanish is so hard but I remind myself that Heavenly Father wants me to learn Spanish because He has specific children that he wants me to teach that only speak Spanish. I say all of my personal prayers in Spanish and it is such a humbling experience because I feel like a child again because my prayers are simple because I have such a limited vocabulary.I don't feel like I am progressing as much as I would like in the language but I know it will come and the spirit is so so so strong.
My companion Hermana Blauer is honestly the best. We already love each other so much. We have said so many times that we could not have picked a better companion for each other. She is from Sandy Utah and is going to Baton Rouge Louisiana. The Elders in my district are amazing and take such great care of me. They are often immature but I truly love them and feel so protective of them. I love watching them gorw and mature in such a short amount of time. We had an amazing district devotional review on Tuesday where the spirit was so strong and we got to know each other so well. I am already realizing that I am making life long friendships here. It is wonderful. My zone is like a big family and they have all made me feel so welcomed. My zone leaders along with many of the elders and hermanas in my zone are going to Tempe, Arizona. An Elder Shreeve from Idaho that is going to Canada is in my zone and is a cousin to the Shreeves in our ward (Shout out to the Don and Kim Shreeve family).
The devotional on Tuesday was awesome it was Elder Perkins of the 70. It was all about faith and it made me realize that in order to have the strength to progress in the language and to be postive I must have faith. I love seeing Scott I see him almost every day. My branch president, President Collett, is really great but he told me in an interview that the missionary rules apply to siblings. He wasn't getting mad at me or anything just letting me know. It is so hard but we will get a picture I promise. He sounds like he is doing great and that is so neat that one of his investigators is getting baptized.
I have seen so many people that I know here it is so fun. I see Jake Jarvis a lot because his class is in my building. I also saw Scott Carter the day before he left. Oh and I saw Jake Jackson (Taylor's brother) that was fun. He came up to me and said hey hermana andrews I don't know if you would remember me but I wanted to say hi. Of course I remembered him and we talked for a while. So mom if you still have Karen's number maybe you could call her and tell her that I saw him and was touched that he came and said hi.
This is so hard! I really don't have a lot of time to write but I have thousands of things to say. I have already taught 3 lessons in Spanish. It is really hard because my language abilities are not great but the spirit is so strong. It is the neatest feeling to know that the Spirit is directing your thoughts almost always. In our first lesson I was really guided by the Spirit as I came up with scriptures that would guide our investigators questions. I then challenged him to read Alma 17 and later on I realized I really wanted to challenge him to read Alma 18. Alma 17 is where Ammon cuts off  the arms so the next time we taught him we aksed him how his reading went. He asked why Ammon cut off the arms and I said because he was inspired to and because he was a missionary. Our investigator then got nervous because we are missionaries and he asked if we were there to cut off his arms. I assured that we weren't. It was really funny but embrassing.
I hope you can all see that I am loving it here and learning so much. Thank you for your support and prayers. I know that the church is true and that Heavenly Father loves us all.
One more thing look up The Character of Christ by Elder Bednar it will change your life.
Love,
Hermana Hillary
